Wildblume—meaning wildflower in German—is named after the Arrowleaf Balsamroot flowers that grow on the hills of the Okanagan Valley each spring. This refreshing brut sparkling wine is made with Vidal, Auxerrois and Petite Arvine grapes using the charmat method (méthode cuvée close).

The story of the 2022 growing season started with a blast of arctic air in late December 2021. The cold weather damaged some buds on the vines, reducing their potential yields. The spring was cool and damp, which delayed budbreak and suggested it was going to be a short growing season. Summer was hot and dry but the highlight of the growing season was the fall, which felt more like an extension of summer. It was a phenomenal stretch of warm and dry weather that lasted through most of October. The extended season coupled with low yields produced grapes of excellent quality. How it was made:
All three varieties were harvested early when the grapes had low potential alcohol and prominent acidity. The base wine was fermented dry and aged in a combination of stainless-steel tanks and neutral oak puncheons for six months. The aged base wine was transferred to a pressure tank and inoculated with a mixture of yeast and sugar to initiate the second fermentation for carbonation. Once carbonated, the lees were stirred regularly to provide a harmonious integration of bubbles before bottling. How it tastes:
Aromas of lemon, pear, elderflower and lime. On the palate it is light and lively, with lingering floral and lemon flavours. This is the perfect wine for an outdoor lunch, as an aperitif before dinner or for a celebration at any time. 🌱 Vegan WineTechnical Details

The story of the 2022 growing season started with a blast of arctic air in late December 2021. The cold weather damaged some of the tender vines, Bacchus included, reducing yields substantially. The spring was cooler and more damp than usual. Budbreak was delayed which suggested it was going to be a short growing season. Summer was reliably hot and dry, as it tends to be in the Okanagan. The highlight of the growing season was the fall, which felt more like an extension of summer. It was a phenomenal stretch of warm and dry weather that lasted through most of October. The extended season coupled with low yields produced grapes of excellent quality. How it was made
The grapes were whole-cluster pressed to preserve acidity and to keep the juice sharp and clean. The juice was fermented with yeasts that highlight the variety’s unique aromas. After a short aging period in stainless steel tanks, the wine was bottled in late winter for maximum freshness - preserving spring in a glass. How it tastes
Tropical, floral and herbaceous. Look for aromas of papaya, elderflower and fresh-cut grass. Dry on the palate with lingering flavours of herbs, citrus and grapefruit. 🌱 Vegan WineDrink by: 2023-2024

The story of the 2022 growing season started with a blast of arctic air in late December 2021. The cold weather damaged some buds on the vines, reducing their potential yields. A cool and damp spring delayed budbreak and suggested a short growing season ahead. Summer was hot and dry but the highlight of the growing season was the fall, which felt more like an extension of summer. It was a phenomenal stretch of warm and dry weather that lasted through most of October. The extended season coupled with low yields produced grapes of excellent quality. How it was made
To preserve acidity and freshness, we harvested the grapes for our Rosé earlier than we would have if we were making red wine. We used a short maceration period of one hour for Zweigelt and four hours for Pinot Noir to extract a little colour before pressing. We kept temperatures cool for fermentation and used a yeast strain specifically known to highlight floral aromas. We bottled the wine in late winter to have it ready for a spring release. How it tastes
The bouquet has aromas of kiwi, watermelon and subtle notes of peony and rose petal. On the palate it is rich and harmonious with a long finish.Technical Details

Where it was grown
Arrowleaf Estate, Lake Country, Okanagan Valley
Ritchie Vineyard, Lake Country, Okanagan ValleyWhen it was grown
2021 was one of the hottest and driest years on record in British Columbia. The early part of summer brought the highest temperatures ever recorded in the Okanagan followed by prolonged drought that lasted well into the fall. This resulted in a smaller than average crop of very ripe, concentrated grapes. Harvest started in early September and was finished by mid October. All in all, it was an extreme growing season that has created the potential of some truly unique wines. How it was made
Merlot from the steepest part of our estate vineyard was blended with Zweigelt from Ritchie Vineyard to add acidity and structure. The wine was aged in French and Eastern European oak barrels for 18 months before a light filtration and bottling. How it tastes
The bouquet features black currant, dark chocolate, hints of espresso, cedar and black pepper. On the palate it is elegant and with rich fruit, well integrated tannins and spicy oak on the finish. 🌱 Vegan WineTechnical Details
