Pinot Gris 2023

CA$23.10

What it is
Pinot Gris is the copper-skinned member of the Pinot family. It produces elegant white wines with a rich texture and complex aromatics.

Where it was grown
31% Savard Vines, Summerland, Okanagan Valley
31% Arrowleaf Estate, Lake Country, Okanagan Valley
24% Wendell Vineyard, Lake Country, Okanagan Valley
14% Ritchie Vineyard, Lake Country, Okanagan Valley

When it was grown
The 2023 growing season brought extreme weather and a small crop of grapes. It started in December of 2022 when an outbreak of arctic air damaged many of the fruitful buds on our grapevines. Spring was cool and dry and then summer arrived to deliver one of the hottest and driest growing seasons on record. A few vines collapsed in the heat while most set a small crop of concentrated grapes. Ripening sped along through August and our entire harvest was condensed into the month of September.

How it was made
The grapes were hand-picked at optimal ripeness throughout September and gently pressed to obtain the best quality juice. The juice was inoculated with a mix of yeast strains to provide complexity to the aromatics. After fermentation, the wine was left to rest on the lees for the winter before filtration and bottling in spring.

How it tastes
Subtle aromas of peach skin, red apple, lemon and white tea. On the palate it presents as a generously textured, dry wine with a smooth mid-palate, moderate acidity and ripe fruit on the finish.

Technical Details
Residual Sugar 4.4 g/l
Acidity 5.3 g/l
Alcohol 13.7%
