Pinot Noir 2022

CA$29.10

What it is
A rich and full-flavoured Pinot Noir grown in the north and central Okanagan Valley.

Where it was grown
Wendell, Ritchie, and Arrowleaf Estate Vineyard located in Lake Country and Savard Vines located in Summerland, Okanagan Valley.

When it was grown
The story of the 2022 growing season started with a blast of arctic air in late December 2021. The cold weather damaged some buds on the vines, reducing their potential yields. A cool and damp spring delayed budbreak and suggested it was going to be a short growing season. Summer was hot and dry but the highlight of the growing season was the fall, which felt more like an extension of summer. It was a phenomenal stretch of warm and dry weather that lasted through most of October. The extended season coupled with low yields produced grapes of excellent quality.

How it was made
The delayed growing season had us harvesting in mid-October, when nights were getting cooler and the ripening was slowing down, allowing us to pick each vineyard block at optimal maturity. Fermentation took place in multiple batches using different yeast strains. The wine was aged in French oak barrels (20% new) for 9 months before blending and bottling in late summer.

How it tastes
Raspberry, dark cherry, cedar and rose petal aromas combine with subtle notes of leather and earth. It has a rich texture on the mid-palate and a long finish with smooth tannins.
